Fantasyland Rumoured Expansion at Disney’s Magic Kingdom

UPDATE: The Fantasyland Expansion is no longer a rumour!

Rumours are rife in the Disney online community today about a possible expansion to Fantasyland over at the Magic Kingdom.

A set of plans have appeared which seem to show a new Pixie Hollow and Dumbo themed area over what used to be the 20,000 Leagues under the Sea attraction, as well as part of Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

Such an expansion would pave the way for new attractions, character meet and greet areas, and perhaps a table-service restaurant. Fantasyland always seems to be by far the busiest land in the Magic Kingdom so some extra space would be welcomed.

Disney Imagineers are always keen to add new rides and attractions to the parks, but we’ve seen little addition to the Magic Kingdom in recent years aside from Stitch trying to take over in various guises!

It will be some time before we discover if there is any foundation to these rumours – but I for one am looking forward to the announcements!
